Leigh Sherry![]() Leigh grew up in Calgary, Alberta. She earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from the University of Victoria in 2002. She returned to Calgary and worked as a youth and family counsellor until 2004 when she left for Glasgow, Scotland to pursue a Master of Laws in Human Rights Law (LL.M) at the University of Strathclyde. Upon returning to Calgary, she worked as a Policy Analyst at the United Way of Calgary, where she routinely presented her recommendations to MLA’s, MPs and wrote publications for their organization. While there, she sat on several committees and boards, including the Child Poverty Committee and the Aboriginal Inclusiveness Committee. She was a board member for the Women’s Centre of Calgary. She also worked as an Addictions Manager at a treatment facility in Calgary. Leigh then moved to Saskatoon to attend law school at the University of Saskatchewan. She contributed her volunteer time to Pro Bono Students Canada where she volunteered as a Cree Court Monitor in remote northern towns in Saskatchewan. She also worked as a summer law student in B.C. for the Ministry of Attorney General. Leigh earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 2010. Leigh then articled at a criminal defence firm in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she litigated in both Provincial Court and Court of Queen’s Bench. Leigh has been called to the Bar in both Manitoba and Alberta. Leigh happily returned to Calgary, AB and joined Soby Boyden Lenz in 2011. Professional Associations
