Gary D. Ellis

Gary Ellis

Gary D. Ellis was born and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario. He completed his undergraduate studies in Political Science at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario and went on to York University in Toronto, Ontario to pursue a graduate degree. While at York, Gary obtained a Master of Arts degree and was exposed to a breadth of courses in the legal realm, where his passion for the law would develop as a result.

Gary went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree in 2007 from the University of Calgary and, after returning to Ontario to complete his articles at a firm specializing in insurance litigation, Gary knew Alberta was home. Returning to Calgary in 2008, Gary accepted a position as an associate at a highly respected boutique firm in the personal injury area.

Desiring more client contact, the opportunity to help people resolve disputes and to realize optimal outcomes for clients, Gary changed focus of his practice to Family Law, joining Castle & Associates in January, 2010. Enjoying the practice area of Family Law immensely, Gary welcomed the chance to join Soby Boyden Lenz in September, 2011. He now looks forward to the opportunities afforded to him, and his clients, by working at one of Calgary’s leading Family Law firms and practicing in that area exclusively.

In his spare time, Gary enjoys travel and can include Sri Lanka, New York City and Seattle among his favourite destinations visited in the past year. Aside from travelling, Gary enjoys being outdoors and taking advantage of residing in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.

Though litigating for his clients, Gary also sees the value of alternative dispute resolution to reduce expenses for clients, as well as to provide a timely resolution of claims. He has experience at all levels of Court in the province, including the Court of Appeal.
