Elaine L. Lenz Q.C.![]() Born in Vancouver, B.C., Elaine Lenz moved to Alberta at an early age. She was raised in rural Alberta, near the village of Bentley. Following her graduation from high school, Elaine again resided in Vancouver, later returning to attend the University of Alberta where she graduated with a B.A. in 1972, majoring in political science, and with an LL.B. degree in 1975. Elaine then articled to Thomas J. Walsh, Q.C., and was called to the Alberta Bar in 1976. She continued with the law firm of Walsh Wilkins as an associate, and later as a partner, practising in the areas of corporate, commercial, real estate, civil litigation and family law. In 1985 Elaine completed mediation training in Vancouver, B.C., and has since attended a number of "lawyer-assisted" mediation sessions with clients. In 1986, Elaine became one of the founding partners of Soby Boyden Lenz. Prior to the birth of her second son in 1987, Elaine volunteered her time at the Calgary Legal Guidance Clinic, served on the Board of Directors of the Vocational & Rehabilitation Research Institute and of the Calgary Birth Control Association, and was also a member of the Kinsmen Club. In more recent years she has instructed family law bar admission courses for the Legal Education Society of Alberta and has been a member of several school committees. When litigation becomes necessary, Elaine’s experience includes representation of clients at all levels of Alberta courts. Elaine has litigated issues involving custody, access, spousal support, child support and division of matrimonial property. Elaine Lenz was appointed as Queen's Counsel in 2000 and, in 2005, was invited to become a Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Professional Associations
